Change Management

ImageEA is making a ton of changes now. When I began on the Avenue, the platform was static. EA built a gaming analysis platform during that time. They have returned their attention to Empire Avenue, and we have seen many changes over the past few months. They started with removing obsolete features, cleaning their code base, and trying to improve the consistency of the User Interface. One analogy that I saw involved applying makeup to a farm animal.

Recently the changes are more profound. The largest one happened about a month ago. EA reduced the dividend payment for everyone and modified the algorithm that calculates dividends. The immediate goal seemed to be stemming the rising cost of missions. The longer term plan seems to be laying the foundation for Empire Avenue to become profitable.

There is currently a big discussion about communities and missions going on here: http://www.empireavenue.com/community/page/discuss/?c=3426 I notice a mention about premium communities, but other than someone is paying, I am unclear exactly what EA intends. I also notice big questions about missions. What can or should be required? Does EA’s emphasis on missions make sense? What is all the hoorah about ratings and feedback?

I don’t have any answers today about how all this is going to turn out. I do have a few opinions, but that & two bucks will get me a cup of Starbucks. It is obvious that EA is gearing up for the next generation. When or what EA 2.0 will be…your guess is probably better than mine! Meanwhile be nice, have fun, and create some value for yourself.
